Katsina Police Repels Bandits' Attack, Neutralizes One

The Katsina State Police Command has repelled bandits' attack on Kitibawa village in Dutsinma Local Government Area of the state.

The police also neutralized one of the bandits in a gun duel.

According to SP Gambo Isah, the spokesperson of the command in a statement on Tuesday, the command received a distress call that the terrorists in their numbers were shooting sporadically with AK 47 riffles in the village.

He added that the bandits also kidnapped one 55-year-old man identified as Alhaji Ado Rumawa during the attack.

Upon receiving the report, the Area Commander, Dutsinma, led Police patrol team to the area and engaged the terrorists in a gun duel.  

"The team succeeded in repelling the terrorists and one of them was neutralized. 

"And the kidnap victim was rescued unhurt. 

"Many of the terrorists were suspected to have fled the scene with gunshots wounds."

The statement added that while investigation is ongoing, the police is currently combing the area to arrest the injured terrorists or secure their dead bodies.
