Katsina: Police Subdue Terror Attack, Kill One

One terrorist has been neutralized when the police repelled an attack on Magamar Jibia local government area of Katsina State.

An AK-47 rifle with four Magazines containing 90 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition was also recovered from the subdued terrorists.

SP Gambo Isah Command’s Public Relations Officer revealed this in a statement issued on Monday.

"Today Monday, 2nd January, 2023 at about 0430hrs, terrorists in their numbers, shooting sporadically with AK 47 rifles, attacked a police Nipping point at Magama – Hirji junction, along Jibia – Katsina road.”

According to the spokesman, the police were decisive in dealing several blows to the armed men.

“One of the terrorists was neutralized, and one AK 47 rifle was recovered with four magazines containing ninety (90) rounds of 7.62mm ammunition of AK 47 rifles.”

He maintained that money and other exhibits were also recovered, noting that many of the terrorists escaped the scene with gunshot injuries.

“Two Policemen sustained injury during the encounter. They were taken to Jibia hospital, treated and discharged. Search parties are still combing the area with a view of arresting or recovering more dead bodies on the terrorists."

He said investigations would intensify on the attack to further ensure the safety of Katsina people.
