A total of twelve passengers were kidnapped by bandits in Katsina State along the Yantumaki-Burunkuza road in the Danmusa Local Government Area.
The collaborative efforts of the Nigerian Army, the police, and the Government of Katsina saw the rescue of the victims who were made up of mostly women and kids.
According to the Katsina State Police Command spokesperson, Gambo Isah, while briefing the press, the victims, after the rescue operation, were presented at the office of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr. Mustapha Inuwa.
He said that “their immediate treatment, welfare and subsequent reunion with their respective members of their families as an investigation is ongoing.”

Adding that, “On 22/03/2020 at about 21:00hrs, a group of bandits armed with AK 47 rifles, blocked the road between Yantumaki to Burunkuza and attacked a commercial motor vehicle, a bus belonging to Niger State Government with registration number NIGER_14B_50NG driven by one Shu’aibu Muhammed, M, aged 45 years of Niger state and kidnapped the passengers,”
Security agencies recovered 96 rounds of 7.62 live ammunition and a total of 708,000 naira from the syndicate of drug dealers, and armed robbers.
