Katsina: Why we introduced foreign scholarships, special sch

Katsina Governor, Dikko Umaru Radda has revealed why his administration introduced foreign scholarships and special pilot schools in the state.

The governor who attributed the gesture to his commitment to the welfare of residents said the pilot schools will be constructed in the three senatorial zones of the state.

He explained that the scholarship beneficiaries "must only be admitted after undergoing rigorous examinations to assess their academic potentials."

Governor Radda stated this in his address to residents and traditional rulers led by the Emir of Katsina, His Royal Highness Abdulmumini Kabir during the Eid-el-Fitr Hawan Bariki, a durbar procession to the State Government House.

He explained that plans were on the way to revive the state's cultural traditions, particularly the different durbars in the state aimed at making the state a cultural hub and tourist destination in Nigeria.

The governor's Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed in a statement on Friday said: "As part of efforts to revitalize Katsina's cultural legacy, the Governor revealed that the state has enlisted the service of cultural specialists to help revamp and elevate the durbar festivities for national recognition."

He added that the governor equally directed that "henceforth, all the district and village heads are to join the Emirs on horseback in Sallah procession."

The governor further recalled how the state had in the past attracted foreign visitors, particularly during Sallah festivities and lamented over the decline in such activities in recent years.

On his part, the Emir of Katsina, HRH Abdulmumini Kabir urged affluent Muslims to prioritise philanthropy and support the less privileged.

He warned against the transient nature of worldly wealth, drawing their attention to the importance of charitable deeds in the hereafter.

The Royal father also appreciated the governor for his continuous support of the traditional institution in the state and stressed the importance of collaboration to enhance unity and development in the state.
