Kebbi 10th Assembly Members Visit Governor Idris

The members of the 10th assembly of the Kebbi State House of Assembly have visited Governor Nasir Idris at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi shortly after their inauguration.

The delegation was led by the newly elected Speaker of the State's Assembly, Muhammad Usman from Zuru constituency and his Deputy, Muhammad Samaila. 

The inauguration of the 10th assembly took place on Thursday. 

Reading the proclamation of Governor Idris at the chamber of the House, the Clerk, Suleman Shamaki who took charge of the proceedings, told the members of the House that he was in receipt of the proclamation of the governor to inaugurate the House.

As contained in a statement by Yahaya Sarki, Special Assistant to the governor on Media, the clark announced that the constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria vested power on the governor to offer proclamation on the inauguration of the State House of Assembly.

"There is a provision in section 105 sub section 3 of the constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended. 

"That the person elected as the governor shall have the power to issue proclamation to the State House of Assembly immediately after he is sworn in. 

"Now therefore, I comrade Dr Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, Executive Governor of Kebbi State in the excercise of the power vested upon me by section 105 sub section 3 of the constitution, hereby proclaim that the first session of the 10th Assembly shall hold at the assembly chamber, Birnin Kebbi on 8th Day of June, 2023 by 11:00 am," he said. 

The clerk further raised the issue of financial autonomy of the House, saying that it has been resolved.

He added that the legislature and the executive were expected to liaise for implementation.
