The Emir of Argungu in Kebbi State, Alhaji Samaila Mera, has appealed for the return of the state's historic artifacts from the British Government.

He made the appeal today (Wednesday) in Argungu when he received the British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Cantriona Laing.

The Emir was represented by the High Chief of the Argungu Emirate Council, Alhaji Ibrahim Hassan.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the Emir said: “I want to make this request and appeal to the British Government to please, help us to return all our missing artefacts to Kabi Royal Palace."

He further condoled the British government and her people over the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

Mera also noted that the role played by the United Kingdom in Nigeria's history is a significant one.

The British High Commissioner, Cantriona Laing appreciated the emirate for the warm reception accorded her and her team.

She noted that she had been told many things about the state by the state's governor, Atiku Bagudu, especially its economy and history.
