The governor of Kebbi State, Atiku Bagudu has approved the immediate payment of N3.1 billion gratuity and death benefits for 2019 workers.

The governor gave the directive in a statement signed by his Acting Head of Service, Alhaji Safiyanu Garba-Bena on Wednesday.

The statement read that, “The workers comprised those from the state, 21 local government areas and Local Government Education Authorities (LGEAs) staff who disengaged in 2019.

“This is in line with the present administration’s policy on the general welfare of retired workers in the state."

Recall that the governor had approved the payment of N381.7million balance for retired workers from 2017 and 2018 on January 17.

The statement further explained that, “The directives for the two payments are from the N6billion earlier approved by the governor, while reconciliation exercise is continuing in respect of 2020 and 2021."
