The Kebbi State Governor, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu has approved the sponsorship of twenty-eight indigent students to study medicine in Egypt.
The approval which came on Saturday is with immediate effect.
This was disclosed today by the acting Permanent Secretary, Ministry for Higher Education, Alhaji Abdulmuminu Abdullahi Argungu in Birnin Kebbi.
Argungu appreciated the governor for supporting the students to study abroad.
He noted that the governor had been providing necessary moral and material support to the people of the state with the goal of achieving excellence in their educational pursuit.
Meanwhile, the Executive Secretary of the Kebbi State Scholarship Board, Malam Sanusi Garba noted that following the governor's approval, the 28 students would be departing Kebbi for Abuja on Tuesday, November 22.
He said the students would depart Nigeria for Cairo, Egypt.
As contained in a statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the governor, Aliyu Bandado Argungu, "The students would undergo studies in seven Universities approved."
