Kebbi: KAEDCO To Restore Electricity After Government's Intervention

Kebbi: KAEDCO To Restore Electricity After Government's Inte

Following the intervention of the Kebbi State Government, the Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company (KAEDCO) has agreed to restore power supply to the Birnin Kebbi metropolis.

Recall that following a face-off with Nigerian Army, the company disconnected the state's metropolis from electricity sources.

However, the state's governor, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, directed the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Babale Umar Yauri, to intervene and ensure the reconnection.

Meanwhile, the SSG announced that the company has agreed to restore power on Wednesday after a meeting with the hierarchy of the Nigerian Army alongside other heads of security agencies in the state.

In a news briefing earlier in the state's capital, Yauri apologized to the company for the attack on its staff, condemning the trauma they experienced.

He further assured that the state government as well as security agencies would provide the necessary security to workers of the company to carry out their operational duties.

This was contained in a statement by Yahaya Sarki, spokesperson to the governor.

According to Sarki, the SSG added that the Army Commander neither authorized any soldier to manhandle any KAEDCO staff nor supported what happened.

The SSG further appealed to the people of the state to remain law-abiding, adding that any staff of KAEDCO found operating in an unprofessional manner should be reported to the management of the company for disciplinary measures.

He also assured that Governor Bagudu would sustain his material support to KAEDCO towards guaranteeing regular power supply to all parts of the state.
