Kebbi: Transition Committee Finalises Preparation For Smooth

The Kebbi State Transition Committee has said that it has finalized its preparation for the smooth handing over power to the state's governor-elect, Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, on May 29.

This was made known by the committee chairman, Babale Umar Yauri.

As contained in a statement by Yahaya Sarki, spokesperson to governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, on Saturday, special prayers have been held on Friday in mosques beseeching God for His blessings and peaceful handing over of power in the state and nationwide. 

He added that similar prayers would be offered in churches on Sunday throughout the state.

Other activities for the inauguration include "Special Walima for both males and females, special Christian service, horse racing competition to be held on 28th May, 2023 while the swearing-in of the governor-elect, Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu and his deputy, Senator Umar Abubakar Tafida will take place on 29th May at Haliru Abdu Stadium, Birnin Kebbi."

The Secretary to the State Government (SSG) who doubles as the committee chairman, called on the people of the state to participate the events.

He further urged them give the necessary support and cooperation to the incoming administration.

"Since return to civil rule in 1999, Kebbi state has witnessed six successful post transition competitive multi-party elections, including the 2015 election which ushered in the administration of Governor Atiku Bagudu."

He pointed out that smooth transition has stabilized democratic governance in Kebbi state and in Nigeria as well as facilitated successful achievements in many sectors of the economy.
