Six people sustained serious injuries after a bus they were travelling in lost control and tumbled at Mamboleo junction in Kisumu City, Kenya.
Thirty others were treated at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH) for minor injuries.
The Greenline Bus Company bus was travelling from Kakamega to Nairobi when the accident happened on Sunday, January 29, 2023.
Janet Otieno, one of the bus's passengers, reported the driver was speeding before the vehicle overturned.
"The driver was going too fast. We attempted to persuade him to slow down, but he refused," she explained.
Before the police came, residents rushed to the site to assist the injured and rescue others from the bus.
They asked the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) to construct bumps on the major Kisumu-Kakamega route between Coptic Church and Mamboleo to improve safety.
The black spot area has the highest number of accidents in the lakeside city.
