Kenyan Police Attacked, Robbed Of Assault Rifle

The Kenyan Police was Attacked, and Robbed Of His Assault Rifle.

A Kenyan police officer was on Saturday morning attacked and robbed of his rifle in a robbery incident in Eldoret town, Kenya. 

A gang robbed the cop of his AK47 weapon loaded with 30 rounds, leaving him with significant injuries.

According to his colleagues who arrived on the scene, the officer was hurt on the back of his head, where he sustained a deep cut.

He was also hurt on the forehead, mouth, and left kneecap.

Police are concerned that the weapon may be used in a heist, leaving a trail of injuries or deaths.

The victim stated that he was heading home with the firearm after working the night shift when the event occurred at 5 a.m.

He works for the Uasin Gishu County Government and is assigned to the Critical Infrastructure Police Unit Ainabkoi sub-county.

He stated that he was alone from security duty at County Yard- B near the Eldoret Coca-Cola facility, where he was guarding alongside another officer when he was assaulted.

He was returning to his home in Kapsoya lines, Ainabkoi sub-county, when he was attacked from behind with a sharp weapon by unknown male persons who robbed him of his firearm, an A-K 47 assault rifle, according to authorities.

The assailants then vanished into the night, heading towards Eldoret GK jail, according to the officer.

Other officers visited the scene and launched an operation to recover the stolen rifle. 

The injured officer was rushed to hospital where he is currently receiving treatment in fair condition.
