A Kenyan Protester shocked many in Kisumu when he fed on dry cow dung with a juice drink during a protest in Kisumu on Friday.
The unidentified middle-aged man sat on the ground at the Huduma Centre, sipping a liquid that was presumably juice.
While eating the dry cow dung, he kept saying he was dying of hunger.
The man was among a group of demonstrators who had made their way from Kondele to the town centre.
To disperse the demonstrators, no tear gas was lobbed or shots were fired into the air for the first time.
Despite being provoked by the protesters, the police remained calm.
“We want tear gas, we want teargas!” the protestors chanted.
“There is no demonstration without teargas, this is not picking up well,” a demonstrator complained.
The demonstrators attempted to bypass a police roadblock leading to State House Kisumu ostensibly to present a petition to the County Commissioner, despite police pleas to stay away because the said official does not live there.
