Key points as controversy overshadows Manchester United's de

The Red Devils were devastated in their latest Champions League match as they failed to record the much-needed win they desired against Copenhagen.

The game was marred by red cards and VAR deliberation summing up a controversial evening of football.

United would be left to lick their own wounds after this match as they now walk a tightrope in this season's competition as the group games gradually draw to a close.

Following the match incidents, All News Nigeria evaluates the key points aftermath of the contest.

Did Rashford deserve a red card?

Marcus Rashford whose obvious withdrawal from the contest changed the complexity of the match could be left to wonder whether he truly should be sent off in the match.

However, according to the rules, a foul is first adjured from the nature of the action rather than the intent itself.

Rashford may not have intended an offence in the scenario (intent), but the action clearly shows that it was a dangerous challenge (action).

And on this note, the red card was well deserved for the English star, while it could serve as a caution to the player in future situations.

Erik ten Hag & VAR

The manager criticized VAR heavily while defending his team overall during the post-match press release.

A couple of managers notably Jose Mourinho, Antonio Conte and Thomas Tuchel to name but a few have done the same and were duly fined and penalized for such actions.

With United’s manager obviously fuming and speaking out in this contest what should be his own fate likely on the basis of disciplinary action (sanction)?

What are United Group's chances?

Despite United’s criticisms of the VAR amid ten Hag and many pundits objecting against the quality of match officiating in this one.

But the fact remains that the results still stand against Manchester United from every point of view. This means Copenhagen edges United 4-3, thus picking the three points at stake to their own advantage.

The important question here is whether United will make it to the next round of the competition with Copenhagen on top of them only on goal difference.
