A pastor of The Redeem Christian Church of God, Sunday Adeniran and two other persons who were abducted on Saturday by yet to be identified gunmen in Calabar has regained their freedom.
A source who pleaded anonymity said that they were released at about 2 am on Monday near Scanobo filling station, Ikot Ekpo in the outskirts of Calabar, the Cross River state capital.
It was further learned that following a sustained search by the Anti Kidnapping and Cultism Squad led by SP Awodi, the kidnappers hurriedly collected what they could after making an initial demand of 7 million naira.
“They knew that the Dragon Squad was closing in on them, they had to hurriedly collect about N200,000 naira and let their victims go.
“Initially, they demanded N7 million for their release but had to just collect what they could as soon as possible and dropped them off at Scanobo area at about 2am", disclosed the source.
