In a bid to end the menace of kidnapping, the Adamawa State Police Command, in collaboration with hunters, has recorded a major success in the Toungo Local Government Area of the state.

The police command neutralized a kidnapper and rescued two victims on Sunday, according to the state's police spokesperson, Suleiman Nguroje.

Nguroje who made this known on Monday in a press briefing said the police had received information that the kidnappers had demanded a N2 million ransom from relatives of the kidnapped victims.

The kidnappers arrived at the ransom delivery point, where they sighted the police and engaged them in a gun duel.

One of the kidnappers was neutralized, while others fled with bullet wounds during the encounter.

The victims identified as 23-year-old Suleiman Abdullahi and 11-year-old Ruwa Buba, both residents of Mayo Sumsum Village in Toungo LGA, were rescued unhurt.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Afolabi Babatola, commended the gallantry of the operatives of the Toungo Divisional Police Office and the hunters.

Babatola directed the joint operations team to track down the fleeing members of the kidnap gang to ensure that they did not re-group anywhere in the state.

He also urged residents to always inform the police of the whereabouts of criminals, especially those found with bullet wounds.

Nguroje said the collaborative efforts of the police and hunters to combat kidnapping, robbery, cattle rustling, and unlawful possession of firearms in the state is yielding positive results.

The police command also called on residents to support their efforts by providing timely and accurate information to help them apprehend criminals and ensure the safety of all citizens.
