Kim Jong-Un Fires Top Official For Failing To Evacuate Resid

Scores of lives have been taken by the typhoon in North Korea, with the Supreme Leader of the country, Kim Jong-Un sacking a top official.

Kim visited the affected area in the northeastern part of the country, pledging to send 12,000 workers for relief efforts, according to the state media.

The typhoon continues to claim lives and properties, as there are fears that a cargo ship with nearly 6,000 cattle and dozens of crew members aboard had capsized near Japan.

The state media had reported that Kim visited the South Hampyong province that had been hit by Typhoon Maysak.

The typhoon had demolished over a thousand houses, eroding farmlands in the coastal South and North Hamgyong, although, no casualties were reported.

However, in the Kangwon province, "dozens of causualties" were reported according to Rodong Sinmun newspaper.

According to the paper, officials in the province would be "gravely punished" for not evacuating the residents on time.

The Korean Central News Agency said that Kim convened a policy meeting involving top officials discussing “the need to make the recovery campaign from damage an important political work and an occasion of consolidating the single-mined unity.”
