Kim Kardashian has made her first public statement since her divorce from Kanye West was finalized last month.
Kim described how she does her best to parent her four young children with West in a previously recorded conversation with Angie Martinez on her "IRL" podcast, which was published Monday, December 26.
She broke down when she spoke about her late father, Robert Kardashian, who died in 2003.
Although she did not particularly address Kanye's recent antisemitic comments and controversies, Kardashian stated that she shields their children from media coverage as much as possible.
She believes her children are unaware of West's current behaviour since she restricts their access to television and social media and is friends with their teachers.
She stated that she defends Ye in the "eyes of my children, for my children."
Kim then referred to an October statement she made condemning hate speech.
"I had the best dad, and I had the best memories and the greatest experience and that’s all I want for my kids.
“That’s what I would want for them. If they don’t know the things that are being said or what’s happening in the world, why would I ever bring that energy to them?
"That’s really heavy grown-up shit that they’re not ready to deal with.
"One day my kids will thank me for sitting here and not bashing their dad when I could.
“They’ll thank me and I’ll privately answer anything that they want to know. It’s not my place anymore to jump in", the reality star said.
