Kingsley Ehizibue: Nigerians React To Germany–Based Defender Super Eagles' Call-Up

Kingsley Ehizibue: Nigerians React To Germany–Based Defend

Nigerians are reacting to the maiden Super Eagles call-up for FC Köln of Germany defender, Kingsley Ehizibue.

Allnews.ng reports that the 24-year-old Nigerian-Dutch player has been called up by Coach Gernot Rohr for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying matches against Sierra Leone this month.

Nigeria host the Leone Stars at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba, Delta state on Friday, March 27, before flying to Freetown to confront the Stars at the Siaka Stevens Stadium in the return four days later.

Victory in both games will virtually guarantee Nigeria a spot at the 33rd AFCON slated for Cameroon early next year, ahead of their away clash to the Benin Republic in Porto Novo in June and a home tie against Lesotho early September.

Ehizibue was born in Munich to Nigerian parents, but moved to the Netherlands at 2 years of age, growing up in Zwolle. He started playing football at local amateur outfit CSV'28, before signing his first professional contract with PEC Zwolle in 2014.

In the summer of 2019, the Netherlands U21 star joined Koln on a four-year contract until 2023
