Klopp Rates Liverpool's Season As 'Average'

Jurgen Klopp has admitted that Liverpool's performance this season has been average considering the pedigree of the Merseyside club.

The Reds who came close to clinching an unprecedented quadruple last season are experiencing a dramatic regression thus far.

They are sitting eighth in the Premier League, nine points away from the top four with eight games remaining.

One major reason for Liverpool's huge drop-off can be attributed to their poor away form, managing just three victories on the road this time around.

"We've played a very average season so far in general having some of the highest results in this club's history, which is absolutely strange and I said after the Leeds game that I thought it was the best game we played this season and I know a lot of people thought Leeds were not up to it.

"I got asked after the game how it was possible for a side to play two such different halves, but I did not see that.

"We were not that spectacular in the first half, but it was calm, we were preparing, it was convincing and good," the gaffer said.

Despite Liverpool's average season, Klopp hopes of finishing in the top four this season, with four of their next five games at home, starting with Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

"When you are in a super moment in the season, the only game you need to worry about is the next one.

"If you are not in a good situation, the only game you need to worry about is the next one. There is no alternative to that.

"And that is exactly what we do and I couldn't care less where we play after to be honest, it is just about the game tomorrow," he added.
