The Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP) has on Wednesday said its members carried out the attack on the Kuje correctional facility in Abuja.

The facility was attacked on Tuesday night, leading to the release of over 600 inmates.

There had been reports that the former boss of the police special unit remanded in the facility, Abba Kyari had not been found.
