The Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has lauded the Appeal Court victories of lawmakers in the state under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The Governor commended the appeal court judges for "standing firm by the law and resisting any blackmail or threat in the discharge of their constitutional duties."
AbdulRazaq also felicitated with the lawmakers on the development while expressing his excitement over the reclaiming of the Odo-Ogun State Constituency in Oyun Local Government Area of the State.
The constituency was the only position held by the opposition People's Democratic Party (PDP) until the appeal court verdict.
As contained in a statement on Tuesday by Rafiu Ajakaye, the governor's Chief Press Secretary, the victory on the Odo-Ogun Constituency delivers control of all the 24 seats in the State House of Assembly by the APC.
The statement partly reads: "The Governor specifically congratulated Hon. Rukayyat Shittu of Owode/Onire Constituency (Asa); Hon. Razaq Owolabi (Shaare/Oke Ode Constituency; and Hon. Atoye Yusuf Musa, the APC candidates in the 2023 House of Assembly who have been declared the winners of the election.
"He said the victory reaffirms the confidence of the people in the party and the government, and that the party ticked all the right boxes in the electoral process.
"The Governor added, however, that the victory comes with renewed responsibility on the affected legislators to deliver more to the people for the confidence reposed in our party.
"The Governor is confident that the legislators will continue to represent the interest of the people."
