Kwara Students To Represent Nigeria At World Schools Debate

Kwara Students To Represent Nigeria At World Schools Debate

Secondary school students in Kwara State are set to represent Nigeria at the 2022 World Schools Debate Championship in the Netherlands.

This was disclosed in a statement by the Chairman, Kwara State Universal Basic Education Board (KWSUBEB), Professor Sheu Raheem Adaramaja.

Adaramaja stated the Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has also approved a camping exercise for the students.

He said the exercise was to prepare the students for the world schools championship debate.

The students who came from public schools in the state won the national schools debate in Lagos to represent Nigeria.

Adaramaja added that this was evidence that the governor had invested a lot in the education sector.

The statement partly read, “Our children are the ones representing Nigeria in the Netherlands.

"We have engaged various tutors, including native speakers of the English language who are involved in the KwaraLEARN programme, to hone the skills of the students to be at their best.”

While noting the need for native speakers in preparing the students, he said it was a move to expose the students to different intonations they might come across at the competition.

He added that the government is doing all it can to ensure that the students emerge champions on the world stage.

He said, "Everything is being done to make sure they excel at the world schools debate championship.
