La Liga: Lionel Messi Seals 7th Pichichi in 11 years As Barc

Barcelona eased past Deportivo Alaves 5-0 on the final day of the La Liga season as Lionel Messi scored two goals to take his tally for the season to 25 goals and in pole position to win the La Liga Golden Boot Award (Pichichi), also the player with the highest assist 20.

The Argentine scored 25 goals this season, the lowest he has scored in the league since 2008/2009 season when he scored 23 goals. He has won the golden boot 6 times in 10 years, losing it four times; 3 to Ronaldo and 1 to fellow teammate Luis Suarez.

Lionel Messi sets to increase the tally to 7 this year with Karim Benzema behind at 21 goals. Real Madrid takes on Leganes who could be relegated if they lose against Madrid and would only not if they win and Celta Vigo loss their match.

Barcelona ran riot against Alaves on Saturday scoring 5 goals in a single match their highest since the restart with goals spread between Messi, Suarez, Ansu Fati, and even Nelson Semedo from the back scored to make it a 5-0 win at the Mendizorrotza Stadium.

The team can have some rest after the congested fixtures ahead of their Napoli game at the Camp Nou.

The coronavirus spike in Spain is increasing and it is possible the match is moved to Portugal. Barcelona would not want that because of the advantage at home even without the fans, the Blaugrana has width, breadth, and length of the Camp Nou to intimidate any guest.
