Real Madrid secured a hard-fought 2-0 victory over Osasuna in their recent LaLiga clash, with Federico Valverde and Marco Asensio scoring in the second half to help cut the gap between themselves and league leaders Barcelona to just five points.
The match was intense from the outset, with four players being booked in a bad-tempered first half. Vinicius Junior thought he had given Real Madrid the lead early in the second half, but his goal was ruled out for offside.
Osasuna then began to assert themselves and almost scored themselves, with Moi Gomez hitting the post and Jon Moncayola firing just wide. However, it was Real Madrid who would ultimately make the breakthrough, with Vinicius creating the opening for Valverde to score in the 78th minute.
Asensio then added a second goal in stoppage time to seal the victory for Real Madrid and lift them to 51 points, five behind Barcelona, who have yet to play Cadiz. The win will provide a welcome boost for Real Madrid as they continue their pursuit of the LaLiga title.
