Labour union rejects FG's proposal to sell TCN

Organised Labour has strongly opposed the Federal Government's announced plan to privatise the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), expressing concerns that it would exacerbate the socio-economic challenges faced by Nigerians.

Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) President, Joe Ajaero emphasized the potential dangers associated with the planned privatization, particularly in the Power sector.

Ajaero stated, "It imperils the ability of the state to control, regulate and guarantee the safety of the nation’s grid system at all times."

The NLC President highlighted the significant apprehension felt by major stakeholders within the Power sector.

In response to the proposed privatization, NLC called on all Nigerians to unite against it, citing the potential adverse effects on future generations.

The organisation asserted that the move could undermine the state's capacity to effectively control, regulate, and ensure the safety of the national grid system.
