Lagos Chairman Buys GCE Forms For 100 Indigent Students

The Chairman of Badagry-West Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Lagos State, Joseph Gbenu on Friday gave out 100 General Certificate of Education (GCE)  forms to indigent students in the state.

Gbenu, after presenting the forms said the gesture aimed at boosting and sustaining education in the council area by raising resourceful youths.

He added that the act would help the students achieve their academic goals while reducing the cost on their parents.

“This will also help us as a council in the nearest future, as we continue to build transformational leaders from the onset.

“This is one of the core areas in which my administration has been consistent since 2017 when I assumed office as chairman of the council.

Beneficiaries of Free GCE Forms

“Purchase and presentation of free GCE forms was my first programme when I became chairman in 2017, and we have received good testimonies from students who benefited from the scheme across the nation,” he said.

The Chairman advised the beneficiaries to make good use of the opportunity, reiterating education as the best legacy.

“Today, most of us would not have gotten to the peak of our careers without sound education.

“You have to take your study very seriously so that you can be achievers in life.

“I implore you to shun all forms of social vices such as hooliganism, cybercrime, cultism and others if truly you want to be great in life,” he urged.

One of the beneficiaries, Seweka Avoseh, said the free form she received has given her a second chance to sit for the examination following her father's death.

Avoseh lauded the chairman for his kindness, promising to excel in the examination.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the beneficiaries were given printed GCE pins and photocards, and transportation fare.
