Lagos Government Reveals Pupils Qualified For Model Colleges

The Government of Lagos State has reiterated that only primary six pupils in both private and public schools in the state are qualified to take the entrance examination into its model colleges and upgraded secondary schools.

It also stated the adoption of the online mode of registration and payment for the examination and for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) also known as the Junior West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for the JSS3 students.

Orunsolu Adebayo, the Director of the Lagos State Examinations Board, in a statement made available by the Head of the Public Affairs unit of the board, Fatai Bakare, on Tuesday, explained that the online payment and registration is in line with the state's policy of easy access to government services.

Adebayo added that the applicants do not need to come to the examination board office for registration or payment for the examination, noting that the activities could be done anywhere with access to the internet.

The Director of the board explain that the applicants would need to log into a portal, https://examsboard.lagosstate.gov.ng, and create an account to generate a Unique Identity Number (ID) and Personalized Identification Number (PIN).

He noted that it is required of the schools to follow the guidelines and procedures strictly as displayed on the portal.

Adebayo, who said registration for the examination had commenced for a while, warned that late registration would attract a penalty after expiration.

He urged schools with applicants with special needs such as visually impaired pupils and Albinos, among others to inform the board ahead of the examinations to facilitate adequate preparations.

The official advised ineligible pupils to avoid commencing registration for the examination as they would not be allowed to take both exams.
