The Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) has unveiled a boat-hailing app to connect skippers and charterers in the state.
The General Manager of the LASWA, Damilola Emmanuel at the launching over the weekend, pledged the authority’s commitment to improving the waterways for users through the introduction of technology and innovation.
The unveiling of the app launched by a tech company, OsaGo, took place at LASWA’s Five Cowries Terminal in the Falomo area of the state.
Emmanuel added that the launch of the app is a demonstration of the government’s commitment to making the use of waterways attractive to all classes of users. He further stated that the introduction of OsaGo Rider App would improve safety on the waterways.

He said, “For us, it is about inclusion in Lagos State. And which is why this whole concept ensures that the boat operators are being recognized. The reason I am so interested about this initiative is that it promotes safety. The Lagos State Government is committed to continually developing the waterways through innovation and technology.”
Also at the event were stakeholders in the water transportation sector in the state including the Association of Tourist Boats and Water Transport of Nigeria, the National Inland Waterways Authority, amongst others.
