Multiple crashes on Kara Bridge near the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway left one dead on Thursday morning.
Per online reports, the accident involved seven vehicles including a container-laden truck due to motorists being paralysed on the ever-busy route.
The Federal Road Safety Corps and the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) made up the first responders who arrived on the scene.
Confirming the accident, FRSC Sector Commander in Ogun State, Ahmed Umar, disclosed that a traffic hawker was killed.
He added that emergency responders are still rescuing those injured.
According to him, the incident was caused by brake failure on the part of the driver who rammed into the vehicles in front of him from behind.
A LASEMA spokesperson also revealed that rescue efforts are ongoing at the scene of the accidents.
