Lagos Police Command issues apology to DJ Switch over arrest mix-up

Lagos Police Command issues apology to DJ Switch over arrest

DJ Switch

The Lagos State Police Command issued a public apology to #EndSARS activist DJ Switch, also known as Obianuju Catherine Udeh, regarding viral reports of her alleged arrest for assaulting a police officer in Lagos.

Initial reports on Thursday suggested that DJ Switch had been arrested and arraigned in court for assaulting a police officer.

However, DJ Switch promptly refuted these claims via her social media handle, stating that the reports were fake news. She demanded a retraction from the publishers and warned of potential legal action for defamation of character.

Subsequently, the Lagos State Police Command clarified the situation and apologized for the mix-up. They explained that the arrested individual was actually DJ Commissioner Wysei, not DJ Switch.

The Command's spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, took to his personal social media handle to issue the clarification and extend apologies to media organizations such as Lindaikeji, BBC, and TVC, as well as to DJ Switch herself.

The PPRO wrote: “There is a mixup from our end. Arrested person is DJ Commissioner Wysei not DJ Switch.

“Apologies for all inconveniences to a few media outfits like Lindaikeji, BBC and TVC that I gave confirmation this morning.

“Apologies to DJ Switch too.”
