Interior designer Ehizogie Ogbebor has been slammed with a 12-count charge before a state High Court, by the Lagos State Government for alleged failure to pay tax returns.
The state's prosecution, A. I. Alli said the defendant, who is also an Instagram celebrity, had refused to pay personal income tax to the state internal revenue service for nine years, from 2014 till date.
According to the offences contravened Sections 41 and 94 (1) of the Personal Income Tax Act, Cap. P8, Laws of the Federation, 2004 and Sections 56(a) (b) of the Lagos State Revenue Administration Law, No.8, 2006.
Alli informed the court that he had an application for substituted service when the matter was heard on Monday, stating that he had been unable to serve the defendant with the charge.
As a result, Alli requested that the court issue an order directing substituted service on the defendant.
He stated, "We request the court's permission for substituted service to post the notice on the defendant's last known address, at plot 59, Fola Osibo St, Lekki Phase 1, Lagos.
In a brief decision, Justice Yetunde Adesanya approved the request for alternative service.
