Lagos Taskforce Demolishes Over 150 Kiosks In Agege

The Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences (Enforcement) Unit (Taskforce) has demolished over 150 illegal kiosks, shop extension and shanties within the area of Agege and its environs.

The exercise was carried out on Wednesday, August 12, around Community Central Mosque, popularly known as Moshalashi Alhaja.

The Chairman of the agency, CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi, while speaking on the exercise, said that the demolition was necessary following the demeaning way miscreants and illegal traders have used the area.

According to the chairman, relevant stakeholders, which included the Sarki of Agege, Alhaji Musa Muhammed Dogan, were informed before the demolition exercise commenced.

He said, “The area has since become an eyesore and security threat to residents including members of the public as the entire area including the surroundings of the mosque had been occupied by miscreants and illegal traders.”

Egbeyemi also added that the Agency would live up to its responsibility of enforcing both the Lagos State Environmental Law and Lagos State Traffic Reform Law of 2018 in line with the T.H.E.M.E.S agenda of the present administration.
