Lagos residents have been encouraged to make good sanitation practices a daily affair to ensure a clean, flood-free, safe, and sustainable environment.
This disclosure was made in a statement signed by the Director of Public Affairs, Ministry of Environment and Water Resources, Kunle Adeshina, on Sunday.
According to him, the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, made this call during the weekly community-based environmental sanitation advocacy campaign in Bariga Local Council Development Area on Sunday.
“What we are trying to do is ramp up sensitisation and advocacy before the formal commencement of the monthly environmental sanitation, which will soon be announced by the Governor,” Wahab said.
He also stresssed that residents must support government efforts by regularly cleaning drainages in front of their houses and avoiding illegal waste disposal.
“It is expedient for everyone to take ownership of all infrastructure provided by the government,” he added.
