The Executive Chairman Qua’an-Pan LGC, Hon. Ernest Abner Da’a on Friday expressed his appreciation to the Governor of Plateau State, Simon Bako Lalong, for compensating the victims of Namu inferno.
Da’a stated this while speaking at the presentation of a cash donation of ten million Naira (N10 million) by the Governor of Plateau State and Chairman Northern Governors Forum (NGF) Rt. Hon. Barr. Simon Bako Lalong KSGG, to victims of the fire disaster that had engulfed Namu Yam Market in Namu.
In 2021, a fire disaster burnt down the Bwall Yam Market in Namu, destroying farm produce worth millions of naira.
Presenting the donation, the Chairman appreciated Governor Lalong, saying: "On behalf of the Council, the victims and the entire good people of Qua’an-Pan LGA, we remain indebted to the Governor for the rare gesture.
"The governor distinguished himself as a leader with a large heart when he visited and inspected the scene of the inferno, consoled the entire Namu District, and has today redeemed the pledge he made during the visit.
“It is our prayer that God will continue to guide and protect Governor Lalong and grant him his bid for the seat of the Senator representing Plateau South Senatorial Zone.
"We also pray that God will bless the Governor with greater responsibility that is above the Senatorial seat," Hon. Da'a added.
The Long Jan of Namu Chiefdom, Engr. Safiyanu Allahnana Magaji, expressed gratitude to the Governor, saying Namu is a miniature Nigeria, adding that this singular gesture of the will have great impact on many lives.
The Long Jan admonished the people to be reflective and to always exhibit the spirit of peaceful coexistence, which he said will create room for the attraction of more dividends of democracy.
On his part, Chairman of Bwall Yam Market Namu, Mr. Monday expressed gratitude to the Governor and called on the Local Government Council to assist his Association with the erection of the burnt down stales in the market.
