Landlord Arrested For Allegedly Shooting Tenant To Death

A landlord identified as Victor Steve Nana Kamkam has been apprehended by the police for allegedly shooting a tenant identified as Benjamin Okyere to death for flouting quit notice order he issued him at Ofankor, Accra.

According to the report, the deceased had argued that his rent will be due on the midnight of Sunday, 24th May 2020 and hence demanded that the Landlord gives him more time to pack his things but the decision did not go well with the landlord who shot a gun toward him resulting to his death

The incident was however posted on a microblogging platform, Facebook by one Blessing Naana Ansah-Senkyire who claimed to be the sister of the deceased.

She said, “Yesterday this man shot and killed my brother at Ofankor. Mr landlord who is a disappointed bugar, you won’t go free. No one will bail you out for taking a life.

"He was asked to vacate his room yesterday but couldn’t finish packing so he wanted to live today and the landlord got angry pick a gun at him why he still in his room. Then he shot him”

The deceased’s sister also shared a copy of the tenancy agreement saying, “This is the proof that my brother rent expired this month 24th May 2020. The murderer was only a witness and son to the landlord who is the mother. Then on 25th, he shot him dead. How on earth can a human be this wicked?…. The mother claimed the son cannot Be in jail. But we live to see. Now he’s been taken to prison for two weeks before the case shall be heard”.

In similar notes, on realizing the reason behind Benjamin's death, some angry youth in Ofankor stormed to the house where Benjamin was staying and set the house on fire.

Having been arrested by Ofankor police Victor Stephen Nana Kankam and interrogated, the landlord said the CID named Kanani gave him the guns to protect himself from his house who broken into.
