1. Miyetti Allah Reacts To Attack On Benue Governor's Convoy

The Fulani cattle breeders organisation, Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore has reacted to the attack on Governor Samuel Ortom’s convoy.

Ortom was on Saturday attacked by unidentified gunmen numbering fifteen who chased them to a riverbank along Tyomu community in Makurdi/Gboko Local Government Area of Benue State on foot and sporadically shot at him his security team.

The Benue Governor blamed the leadership of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore and called for their arrest.

2. IGP Adamu Calls For Immediate Investigation Into Attempted Murder Of Benue Governor

The Inspector-General of Police, (IGP) Mohammed Adamu, has ordered full-scale investigations into the attempted murder of the Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, the police is saying.

This follows the attack on Governor on Saturday by unidentified gunmen numbering about fifteen who opened fire on his convoy at a riverbank in Tyo Mu along Makurdi/Gboko road in Makurdi Local Government Area of Benue State.

Reacting to the attempted assassination, IGP Adamu directed the Commissioner of Police, Benue State Command to take adequate measures towards strengthening and improving security in the state, particularly around the governor.

3. Why Some People Are Trying To Kill Governor Ortom – PDP

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has condemned the attack on Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, on Saturday. The opposition party described the attack as “reckless” and an “assassination attempt.”

The party said the brazen attempt on Ortom’s life is coming after being outspoken in exposing those behind incessant attacks on communities in the state.

Ortom was visiting a farm when the gunmen attacked him but his security detail was able to repel the attack. He said he ran for “more than one and a half kilometres without stopping” to escape the assassination attempt. For decades, Benue has been at the center of Nigeria’s farmer-herdsmen clashes.
