A Magistrate Court sitting in Makurdi, Benue State, has ordered that 17-year-old Esther Alex be remanded at the Makurdi correctional centre for setting her boyfriend, Chidinman Ikechukwu Omah, ablaze, which eventually led to his death.
Omah, a patent dealer, died around 10 pm on January 11, from the high degree burns he suffered after his girlfriend set fire on him. Read more here.
As part of measures to slow down the spread of COVID-19 among students in the state, the government of Benue State has approved funds for the mass production of face masks for distribution to all pupils and students in schools across the state.
According to the Commissioner of Education, Professor Dennis Ityavyar, who revealed this on Wednesday, the gesture of the government would complement the efforts of parents to check the spread. Read more here.
Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa, on Friday, revealed the state is witnessing security challenges, adding that members of the dreaded Boko Haram sect are currently regrouping at the borders of Benue and Nasarawa State.
The Governor, who spoke to State House correspondents after meeting with the President at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, said even though the terrorists had been dislodged from Toto local government of the state, where they had camped, they have regrouped at the Nasarawa/Benue border from where they are now launching attacks on residents.
