No Returning Student Tested Positive To COVID-19 — Benue

Benue State Commissioner for Education, Professor Dennis Ityavyar, has revealed that none of the returning students of the state is positive to the COVID-19.

He made this disclosure on Tuesday, shortly after monitoring the reopening of schools in Makurdi. Read more here.

Benue Court Remands 17-Year-Old For Burning Boyfriend

A Magistrate Court sitting in Makurdi, Benue State, has ordered that 17-year-old Esther Alex be remanded at the Makurdi correctional centre for setting her boyfriend, Chidinman Ikechukwu Omah, ablaze, which eventually led to his death.

Omah, a patent dealer, died around 10 pm on January 11, from the high degree burns he suffered after his girlfriend set fire on him. Read more here.

Benue To Mass Produce Face Masks For Basic Schools

As part of measures to slow down the spread of COVID-19 among students in the state, the government of Benue State has approved funds for the mass production of face masks for distribution to all pupils and students in schools across the state.

According to the Commissioner of Education, Professor Dennis Ityavyar, who revealed this on Wednesday, the gesture of the government would complement the efforts of parents to check the spread. Read more here.

Governor Sule Says Boko Haram Regrouping At Benue/Nasarawa Border

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa, on Friday, revealed the state is witnessing security challenges, adding that members of the dreaded Boko Haram sect are currently regrouping at the borders of Benue and Nasarawa State.

The Governor, who spoke to State House correspondents after meeting with the President at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, said even though the terrorists had been dislodged from Toto local government of the state, where they had camped, they have regrouped at the Nasarawa/Benue border from where they are now launching attacks on residents.
