Federal Ministry of Water Resources has declared Buruku Local Government Area (LGA) in Benue open defecation free (ODF), having met the requirements stated in the ODF protocol for hygiene promotion.
The LGA had earlier failed the first validation requirements and thereafter represented itself, making it the 62nd out of the 774 council areas in the country. Read more here.
A Magistrates’ Court in Makurdi, Benue state on Monday remanded two middle-aged persons, Aondongu Gawon and Augustine Kumaiin in a correctional facility for alleged armed robbery.
The Magistrate, Mrs Sonia Yaikiur, who did not take the plea of the defendants for want of jurisdiction, ordered that the casefile be forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecutions for advice. Read more here.
Governor Samuel Ortom has commended the Police Command in Benue for rescuing the kidnapped wife of his Commissioner for Lands, Survey and Solid Minerals, Mrs Ann Unenge, killing the three suspected kidnappers in the process.
