Expect A New Lockdown Order If COVID-19 Cases Spike - NCDC DG

The Director-General of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, Dr Chikwe Ihekweazu, has said that the Federal Government could reinstate the lockdown if the guidelines set down by the government were not adhered to and if the government observes a spike in the number of cases.

On March 30, President Muhammadu Buhari ordered a two-week lockdown on Abuja, Lagos, and Ogun States, and gave an extra two-week extension to the lockdown after its expiration on April 13. Read more here.

The Lagos State Ministry of Health has announced the recovery of 14 coronavirus patients in the state.

A pregnant woman has died from the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in Jigawa State.

COVID-19: Nigeria Records Highest Daily Figure As Total Hits 2802

Nigeria on Monday recorded 245 new cases of coronavirus in the country, raising the total number to 2802.

COVID-19: ‘Arewa Elite Must Live With Their Creation’ - IPOB Opposes Almajiri Repatriation

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), on Monday, condemned the repatriation of almajiris to their home states, stressing that “Arewa political elite and elders created and groomed almajiri for their selfish gain” and must live with it.

While calling the repatriation a ploy by some Northern elite to “dispatch almajiri to our land under the guise of repatriation,” the group, in a statement by its Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, insisted that the movement is the easiest way to export Coronavirus from Kano to other parts of the country.
