The Director of Kimpact Development Initiative (KDI), Bukola Idowu has said that he is positive that the governorship election billed to hold on Saturday, September 19, 2020, will be peaceful, contrary to previous predictions of violence.
Bukola who stated this during an interview with newsmen on Friday, the election eve, explained that the election was going to be peaceful because there has been a reduction in the records of violence in the state after a peace pact was signed by candidates contesting in the election. The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Uche Secondus has alleged that governors elected on the platform of the party are in danger and are being harassed at Benin, the Edo state capital, ahead of the Edo state governorship election.
Raising the alarm during an emergency press conference, Secondus claimed that the PDP Governors were being harassed while Imo state governor Hope Uzodinma and the Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege were relaxing in the home of Adams Oshiomhole, the former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
