The Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, last week issued an Executive Waiver to admit an erstwhile beneficiary of the N-Power programme in state, Ruth Ani, as the pioneer candidate in the Edo Supporting Teachers to Achieve Results (Edo STAR) Teaching Fellows Programme.
The governor, who made the announcement on World Teachers Day, said the (Edo STAR) Teaching Fellows Programme is a three-year intensive training and field experience programme for teachers and aspiring teachers who will be transited into the State Civil Service on completion of the programme. The fresh verification of N-Power beneficiaries ordered by the Nigerian government last week has closed, AllNews reports.
Recall AllNews reported on October 6 that the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development directed Batches A and B Beneficiaries of the N-Power Programme who were earlier omitted from payment of their stipends to report to their various State Focal Persons for verification and re-validation. A Nigerian social commentator, Mustapha Kabir Soron Dinki has said that the Federal Government needs to implement the transition plan of exited N-Power beneficiaries straight away, AllNews reports.
Dinki, who was an N-Power beneficiary via his known Twitter handle stated on Wednesday that "it is not easy to be affected by a pandemic and be exited from your work without package". Read more here.
