New Naira Notes: Why CBN Should Extend Deadline — Atiku

Amid the palpable tension over the imminent deadline for the phasing out of the old N200, N500, and N1,000 notes, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar has stated why it should be extended.

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has reiterated its stance on the deadline, saying it sees no reason for an extension as banks continue to lament the unavailability of the redesigned notes. Read more here.

Adeleke: Protests Lock Down Osun Over Tribunal Judgement

Protesters on Saturday blocked major streets in Osun and were observed burning tires and singing anti-opposition songs to show their grievances against the Osun Election Petitions Tribunal judegment delivered by Justice Tertsea Kume. 

Most affected towns in the state include Osogbo, Ede, Ilesa, Ile-Ife, Ilobu, lla-Orangun, Ile-Ogbo, among others where protesters trooped out in their hundreds to the state capital , Osogbo to protest the Tribunal judegment.  Read more here.

Naira Swap: Buhari Assures Nigerians Of Seamless Procedure

President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday assured Nigerians that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and commercial banks are deploying several initiatives to speed up the distribution and circulation of the new naira notes and avoid cash shortage and chaos.

Two Kidnappers Arrested In Niger State

Two suspected kidnappers have been arrested in Gurara Local Government Area (LGA) of Niger State by the State Police Command, rescuing seven victims, including six male and one female.

The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the command, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, in a statement on Saturday said the arrests were made on Friday, based on intelligence received that two male adults were sighted lurking around Lambata-Bonu road, Gurara LGA. Read more here.
