Court Orders 20 Strokes For Man In Possession Of Weapons

A Shari’a Court sitting in Kano has ruled that 22-year old Salisu Sani be remanded for six months in a Correctional Centre and 20 strokes of the cane for possession of a long sharp knife.

Sani, who lives at Kwalwa Quarters, Kano, was convicted on a count charge of possession of dangerous weapon. Read more here.

FCT Senator-Elect Pledges To Work Across Party Lines

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Senator-elect, Hajia Ireti Kingibe, has expressed gratitude to all supporters who made concerted efforts to ensure her win in the just concluded elections, pledging to work with all and sundry irrespective of party affiliation.

Court Strikes Out El-Zakzaky's Suit Against Federal Government

The Federal High Court in Abuja has dismissed a suit filed by leader of the proscribed Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), Sheikh Ibraheem El-Zakzaky and his wife, Zeenah, seeking an order compelling the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS ) to reissue them international passports.

Presiding Judge, Justice Obiora Egwuatu ruled that the couple failed to provided sufficient evidence to show that their passports were either seized, destroyed, lost or that the relevant agency is unwilling to reissue travel documents to them. Read more here.

Premium Pension Limited Records N10 Billion Revenue

Premium Pension Limited, one of the leading Pension Fund Administrators in Nigeria, has recorded an 18.34 per cent increase in revenue from N8.483 billion in 2021 to N10.039 billion in 2022.

The growth in revenue has resulted in a Profit Before Tax (PBT) of N3.988 billion, which indicates a 32.99 per cent increase when compared to what was recorded in the previous year, while Profit After Tax (PAT) stood at N2.654 billion, representing 35.51 per cent above previous year levels. Abuja Car Thief Arrested, Charged To Court

A suspected criminal who is alleged to have stolen two cars and some household items has been arrested by the Nasarawa State command of the Nigeria Police Force. 

In a statement made available to newsmen in Lafia on Thursday, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel, said the suspect who had been on the watchlist of the police, was tracked down and arrested in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, after painstaking efforts by officers of the command.
