An NGO, Results for Development (R4D), has appealed to Kaduna State Government to sustain the new Health Insurance Scheme towards boosting health care delivery to residents.

2. 'Stay Away From Politics', NUJ Tells New Service Chiefs

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has charged the country’s new service chiefs to avoid being dragged into partisanship by unpatriotic politicians.

3. Ooni Of Ife Warns Sunday Igboho

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has warned popular Yoruba rights activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, to be careful of politicians seeking to hijack his agitations against killer herdsmen in the South West.

The monarch, in an interview with Arise TV on Thursday, advised Igboho not to take the laws into his hands but to allow constituted authorities to handle the herdsmen menace in the region. Read more here.

4. Host Communities Fight Dirty At Reps Hearing On PIB

The ongoing public hearing organised by the House of Representatives on the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) hit a stumbling block as member of host communities exchanged blows during the hearing.

5. 6 Out Of Every 10 Children In Jigawa Stunted — Survey

The Jigawa Government says a survey has indicated that 60 per cent of children under the age of five in the state are stunted as a result of severe acute malnutrition. This means that six out of every 10 children under five years are affected. 

Dr. Kabir Ibrahim-Aliyu, the Executive Secretary, Jigawa State Primary Health Care Development Agency, revealed this during an advocacy meeting in Kano on Thursday. Raed more here.

6. Biafra: ‘I Like Hausa People So Much’ - Nnamdi Kanu

Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the banned Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has expressed his love for Hausa people but noted that he could not say the same for Fulanis.

Diaspora-based Kanu described the Hausa as a good, civilised people of the country, but said Fulani people have been hiding under the combination of Hausa-Fulani to dodge the wrath of the people whenever they perpetrate evil. Read more here.

Kano Pillars secured a hard-fought win in the ongoing 2020/21 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season after putting Rivers United of Port Harcourt to the sword at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna on Wednesday. The contest was settled courtesy of a lone goal by striker, Nwagua Nyima.
