FG To Inject 10 Million Gas Cylinders Nationwide, Establish Micro Sales, Distribution Centers

The Federal Government has restated its plan to introduce 10 million cylinders of petroleum Liquefied Gas into circulation nationwide to increase access to the commodity.

The distribution will be done through registered marketers and it is expected to help deepen cooking gas utilisation across the country. Read more here.

NNPC Retrieves Addax’s Oil Mining Licences

The Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NURPC), Gbenga Komolafe has confirmed that the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) has retrieved the Oil Mining Licences (OMLs) 123, 124, 126, and 137, that was previously held under a Joint Venture (JV) agreement between the national oil company and a Chinese company, Addax Petroleum.

Addax Petroleum was accused by the regulators of failing to meet the terms of the agreement which resulted in the retrieval of OML. Read more here.

Nigeria’s Daily Oil Production Falls Below 1.2 Million Barrels Per Day - OPEC

Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) has announced that Crude oil production in Nigeria fell below 1.2 million barrels per day in December 2021 from 1.28 million bpd in the previous month.

Nigeria produced 1.197 million bpd last month, based on direct communication, OPEC said in its latest monthly report. Read more here.

NNPC To Shed Toxic Liabilities, To Become Most Capitalised Company In Africa – GMD

The Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited, Malam Mele Kyari, has said that the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) has provided the organisation with the opportunity to shed some of its toxic liabilities.

The new legislation is also expected to make the state-owned oil company become the largest and most capitalized company in Africa. Read more here.
