Pirates Attack Oil Tanker In Gulf Of Guinea Offshore West Africa

An oil and chemical vessel owned by a Danish shipping company was attacked by pirates in the Gulf of Guinea offshore West Africa, a spokesperson told Reuters on Tuesday.

According to the spokesperson, the 16 crew members of the Monjasa Reformer tanker sought safety in the safe room of the vessel after the pirates boarded the vessel. Read more here.

President Buhari Launches Nasarawa's Oil Exploration

President Muhammadu Buhari officially opened the Ebenyi-A Exploration Well, which is located in the Middle Benue Trough in the Obi Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, for oil exploration on Tuesday.

EU To Quit Selling New Petrol, Diesel Car In 2035

The European Union member states on Tuesday passed an emissions law that would prevent the EU from selling any new vehicles or vans that release carbon dioxide beyond 2035.

According to the EU, the new regulations aim to reduce CO2 emissions from new vehicles by 55% and new vans by 50% between 2030 and 2034, respectively, and by 100% starting in 2035. Read more here.

The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) has expressed concern about the widespread non-compliance with its rules at retail energy outlets.
