    Buhari Orders NUPRC To Take Control Of Crude Oil Export Terminal Supervision

    The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) has been ordered by the government to assume control of all of the nation's crude oil export ports.

    Iraq Urges Turkey To Resume Crude Oil Shipments

    Iraq has formally asked Turkey to reopen the pipeline that transports its crude oil from the semi-autonomous Kurdistan Region to the port of Ceyhan according to a statement released by the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) of Iraq on Thursday.

    Shell Prevails In UK's Niger Delta Oil Spill Case

    Britain's highest court decided on Wednesday that it was too late for residents of the Niger Delta to file environmental claims against energy giant Shell following a massive oil leak more than ten years ago.

    The Supreme Court of the United Kingdom stated in a statement that its five justices "unanimously" dismissed an appeal on the 2011 spill, affirming earlier decisions that claims were not lodged prior to a legal deadline. Read more here.

    Sanusi, Soludo, El-Rufai Back Petrol Subsidy Removal

    Malam Nasir El-Rufai, the governor of Kaduna State, and Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, the governor of Anambra, have asked the federal government to terminate the gasoline subsidy programme that has harmed Nigeria's economy.

    At a panel discussion on "How Nigeria Can Build a Post-Oil Economic Future" on Tuesday in Abuja, the governors made the request. Read more here.

    Crude Oil Theft: MT Heroic Idun Won't Be Released Until Fines Conditions Are Met, Says CNS Gambo

    Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Awwal Gambo stated on Monday that the 26 crew members of the rogue tanker MT Heroic Idun, who were ordered to be released following a plea agreement by the court last week, would not be released until the fines were paid.

    The vessel was detained nine months ago in Equatorial Guinea following an unsuccessful effort to remove crude oil without authorization from Nigerian seas, which led to the false alarm that pirates were chasing it.  Read more here.
