Ondo Decides 2020: NSCDC Deploys Over 7,000 Officers

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps(NSCDC) says it has deployed no fewer than 7,079 personnel and 60 sniffer dogs to provide adequate security for the October 10 Ondo State governorship election.

Ondo Decides 2020: IGP Assures Adequate Security Of Public Space

As the Ondo Governorship election draws near, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP M.A Adamu has ordered the restriction of vehicular movement from 11:59 pm on Friday, October 9, 2020, to 6.pm on Saturday, October 10 in the State. 

Police spokesman, DCP Frank Mba, said the order is part of efforts by the high command to ensure effective coordination of public order and safety during the gubernatorial election. Read more here.

Ondo Decides 2020: Returning Officer For Governorship Election Not From Ondo - INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has stated that the Returning Officer for the forthcoming governorship election in Ondo State is not from Ondo.

Making this clarification in response to the Peoples Democratic Party's (PDP) claims that the Vice-Chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) was appointed as the Returning Officer for the election, INEC warned that it was the sole responsibility of the commission to appoint the Returning Officer and in that light, it will not be sharing its constitutional and statutory function with any individual or political party. Ondo Decides 2020: Akeredolu Declares Friday Work-Free Day Ahead Of Governorship Election

Ahead of the Ondo State governorship election scheduled for Saturday, October 10, Rotimi Akeredolu the Executive Governor of Ondo State has declared Friday, October 9 work-free day.

Making this announcement in a statement on Thursday, the state Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Donald Ojogo, said all workers in the state's public service should observe the public holiday. Read more here.

Ondo Decides 2020: Makinde Denies Sponsoring Thugs That Removed Fayose's Cap At PDP Mega Rally

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde has denied allegations claiming that he sponsored the harassment of Ayo Fayose at the Mega rally of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo town.

Makinde who denied the allegations told  Fayose to join in the party's campaign rather than distract the PDP's cause. Read more here.

Ahead of the October 10 governorship election in Ondo State, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced the distribution of sensitive materials across the 18 local government areas in the state.

The campaign organization of Eyitayo Jegede has alleged a plot by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to rig the forthcoming Ondo governorship election by snatching ballot boxes.

Making the allegation in a statement, Gbenga Akinmoyo, the campaign organization's spokesperson said that information reaching the organization had uncovered a plot by the APC to circumvent the rules laid down by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Read more here.

Ondo Decides 2020: Fayose Alleges Threat To Life As Thug Removes His Cap During PDP Mega Rally

The former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, has alleged that his life is under threat after a thug removed his cap at the mega rally of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP)  in Ondo town on Wednesday.

Raising the alarm on Wednesday night, Fayose, in a statement by Lere Olayinka, his spokesman vowed to keep speaking the truth about the party in the Southwestern region despite being intimidated. Read more here.

Ondo Decides 2020: IGP Issues Stern Warning To Politicians Against Election Fraud

As the Ondo State governorship election draws closer, the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has issued a stern warning to politicians against engaging in actions and using words that could prevent the conduct of a free and fair election in the state.

Adamu, who issued this warning in a statement by the force's spokesman Frank Mba warned that the full weight of the law will be meted out on anyone involved in any form of electoral fraud. Read more here.
