LAUTECH To Graduate 24,704, 753 Make First Class

The Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomosho (LAUTECH) is set to graduate 24,704 students during its 14th combined convocation on Friday, April 22, 2022. 

The announcement was made by the acting Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Professor Mojeed Liasu, during his address at a press conference on Tuesday where he listed the order of the ceremony.

Giving the breakdown of the classes of degree, Liasu said  753 of the students graduated First Class while 8,096 made Second Class Upper; 12,023 graduated with Second Class Lower; 3221 made Third Class and 299 graduated with a pass.

The acting VC further explained that 2015/2016, 2016/2017, 2017/2018, 2018/2019, 2019/2020, and 2020/2021 sets of students will graduate from the university on the said day.

 Laisu said during the convocation, the acting VC also said Gen. Oladayo Popoola (retd.), a former Military Governor of Oyo State; Chief Mobolaji Ayorinde (SAN), a former Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Governing Council of LAUTECH; Dr. Victoria Samson; the Vice-Chairman and Executive Officer of BOVAS Group; Pastor Williams Olugbemi; and Ambassador Ibironke Adefope will be awarded honorary degrees of the university.

He also commended the effort of the State Governor, Seyi Makinde in modifying the institution, hence making it world-class.

Laisu also disclosed that the institution has been ranked fourth-best in Nigeria by the National Universities Commission and has been constantly named the Best State University in the country.

“News filtering in from Weboneteucs, a world-renowned ranking body, also named us as the Best State University and number 12 in the country. In the latest ranking, March 11, 2022, the body rates LAUTECH as the 9th best university in Nigeria in its “World Scientist and University Rankings 2022,” he added.

The governor, Liasu said has paid 13 months of accumulation of salaries and intends to pay the outstanding allowance to workers in a bid to encourage them to keep up the good work.

The acting Vc disclosed that academic programmes including Mass Communication, Education, and Law among others would be added to the university to change the institution from a regular university of technology.
